Mac: the long vowel mark gets converted on its own

At some point, a completion suggestion started showing up when I type the long vowel mark. It’s in the way and I want it gone.

What happens

• When I type something like バー in a text field on Mac, a capsule shows up suggesting a replacement like バ￣
• If I keep typing, or press Enter meaning to confirm the IME, it goes in anyway
• I use Google Japanese Input, so I don’t think this is the standard IME’s behavior, but sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t
• It only ever gets in the way. Really wears me down

The cause

• System Settings > Keyboard > Text Replacements
  • Something had quietly added entries in there without me noticing
  • ー → ￣ was the problem one, and ￥ → ＼ was in there too. In English, there was omw → On my way!
  • So an OS update just… added these?
  • To delete, use the - button at the bottom — that nostalgic little UI. No context menu, of course
